If you’ve ever dreamed of stepping into a real life fairytale, this wedding at High Rock Castle in Monroe absolutely delivered!

From the moment I arrived, it felt like we had left Washington entirely and stepped into another realm. Tucked away in Monroe, High Rock Castle is a privately owned stone castle venue complete with towers, arched entryways, lush grounds, and even a dragon guarding the property. I had no idea this place existed until this wedding and now it’s easily one of my favorite venues in the PNW!

One of the most unique features of High Rock Castle is that it functions not only as a wedding venue but also as a vacation rental. Couples and their guests can actually stay on-site, which makes it perfect for full weekend celebrations, getting ready photos, and truly immersive themed weddings like this one.
And immersive it was.
This medieval fantasy themed wedding understood the assignment in every possible way. The entire bridal party came fully dressed for the occasion, complete with cloaks, rich textures, and period inspired details. Every member of the wedding party was gifted their own sword which made for some of the most fun and cinematic bridal party photos ever taken. Naturally, we had to get some epic group shots with the venue’s dragon too!

But the real stars of the show were their dogs, who proudly took on the roles of ring bearer and flower girl. Watching them trot down the aisle in full costume was equal parts adorable and unforgettable.

Despite the fantasy aesthetic, the ceremony itself was deeply heartfelt and rooted in tradition.
The ceremony struck such a meaningful balance between fantasy and sincerity, creating a moment that felt both magical and emotionally grounded.

Their vows were emotional, intentional, and beautifully spoken which created the perfect balance between whimsical and meaningful.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the audience!
In addition to exchanging rings, the couple also participated in a traditional handfasting ceremony. Their hands were bound together with ribbon as a symbol of unity and commitment, beautifully honoring ancient marriage traditions in a way that perfectly complemented the fantasy aesthetic of the day.

From royal portraits on the castle grounds to laughter-filled moments with swords drawn, this wedding truly felt like a storybook brought to life. It was an unforgettable day in a setting that proves you don’t have to travel far to feel like you’ve stepped into another world.

If you’re planning a themed wedding or want something completely unique, High Rock Castle is an incredible hidden gem right here in Monroe.

Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for custom macarons which were truly a work of art. Designed to match the theme of the day, the macarons featured dragons, a castle, and even the couple themselves in macaroon form. The attention to detail was impeccable and made for such a fun and unique dessert display that tied the entire fantasy vision together perfectly.

As the evening went on, heartfelt speeches brought both tears of laughter and sentiments of joy before everyone spent the rest of the night out on the dance floor with the summer sun setting behind the castle, celebrating with their favorite people and having the best time.

It was truly an honor to be trusted with capturing such an intentional and joy-filled celebration.
If you’re planning a wedding that reflects your personalities and want your memories documented with care, creativity, and attention to detail, my team and I would be honored to be considered. We would love to connect and learn more about your vision for your day.
With love,
