Rainy Springtime Wedding at Salish Lodge at Snoqualmie Falls

Weddings

Kathryn and Chris got married on a classic spring day in Snoqualmie… and by classic, we mean it absolutely downpoured for most of it. The rain became part of the experience in the best way!

They chose to hold both their ceremony and reception in the hidden lookout area at Salish Lodge at Snoqualmie Falls, surrounded by a small group of their closest family and friends. Tucked away in the trees with the sound of the falls nearby, it created the most peaceful and intimate setting for their day.

From the beginning of the ceremony through the rest of the evening, it rained steadily as guests gathered under umbrellas and Kathryn and Chris exchanged vows with the sound of rainfall all around them. There was something really grounding about it. Calm, cozy, and fully present.

But just before the ceremony, during their first look and family portraits, the rain paused and the sun broke through for a short window of time. The fog lifted slightly, Snoqualmie Falls peeked through in the background, and we were able to capture some truly beautiful portraits with soft spring light.

Once portraits wrapped, the rain returned and stayed for the rest of the celebration.

As the day went on, the fog rolled in thick over the falls, turning the view into more of a tease than a backdrop. One moment you could see it, the next it disappeared completely into the mist. It made for some of the dreamiest, moodiest portraits that felt very true to the Pacific Northwest.

Which meant… we were fully in it.

Umbrellas down, soaked head to toe, running through the rain to capture the moments that were unfolding in real time. At one point during the reception, we even got a round of applause from guests for sticking it out in the downpour to get the shots we did which honestly meant so much.

After their ceremony, guests remained in the hidden lookout space for a cozy reception filled with heartfelt toasts, shared meals, and conversation. With such an intimate group, it felt less like a formal event and more like an evening spent celebrating with family.

Downpours and all, Kathryn and Chris’s wedding day was a reminder that the weather doesn’t have to be perfect for the day to be. The rain didn’t take anything away from their celebration. If anything, it made the entire experience more memorable.

And for any future couples worried about what a rainy forecast might mean… we’ll still be out there with you, getting soaked if we have to, making sure you walk away with images that feel just as magical as the day itself!

If you’re currently planning your wedding and looking for a photographer and videographer to capture your day, my team and I would truly love to connect! Whether your day brings sunshine, rain, or a little bit of both, we’ll be right there with you through it all… timeline support, umbrella holding, dress fluffing, and getting soaked if needed to make sure you walk away with photos and films that feel exactly like your day did. Reach out anytime to chat more about your plans. We can’t wait to hear what you’re dreaming up!
